About Us 

Hi! My name is Lisa and I am the owner of Green Cottage Goldens.  My husband and I started this program aiming to keep this beautiful dog breed alive and going strong.

Five things that are very important to us are God, family, military, healthy puppies and bringing joy to families.

We make sure our adult dogs are as healthy as possible, ensuring they have proper nutrition, proper care and get only the best treatment that we can provide.

Our goal is to produce healthy puppies and provide families with quality golden retrievers.

We feed our goldens a healthy based diet including wheat and grain-free kibble. They also receive proteins through fresh meats and eggs. We provide our dogs with all natural salmon oil to ensure a healthy coat (among many other benefits), our Dams receive vitamins through NuVet which gives them all of the proper nutrients and essentials needed to become ready for breeding and to carry out a healthy pregnancy.

All of our Dams and Sires are health tested through either Embark or Paw Print Genetics. Both accurate companies provide details on each dog's health through testing their genetics, their bloodline, and provide results based on their breed.

Our adult dogs are DNA tested to ensure they are all 100% pure bred golden retrievers and we aim to bring you the lowest COI percentage possible which ensures a strong line of golden retrievers.

Our goal is to grow and build our business with the utmost success, as we strive to earn the trust and respect of our current and future puppy families.

I want to tell you how it all started and how we got to where we are today.

My story starts out with a little something called, prayer.

Struggling financially and living pay check to pay check. It was through prayer and asking the Lord for help that I was led to become a breeder. I felt it strongly in my spirit that I was to breed dogs. It was a feeling you cant ignore or deny. I knew that this was what I was meant to do.

I started this business in early February of 2024. By May of 2024 I had obtained my breeders license through the Department of Agriculture. By October of 2024 I had my very first litter.

Breeding dogs was never something I thought I'd do. I never thought I'd have the knowledge or ability to take on such a daunting task. It was far from my wheelhouse,  or so I thought. What I came to realize was I was slowly developing a desire for breeding dogs and soon developed a passion for it that I didn't have before. In the beginning, taking on such responsibility overwhelmed me.  Making sure you breed healthy dogs so they produce healthy puppies, the expenses to take care of those dogs and not to mention having a lot (and I mean a LOT) of dogs. No one could prepare me for what was to come. Through everything, especially the financial aspect, the Lord provided and led me along the way guiding my every move.

One thing I've always loved to do was rescue animals. In fact, my childhood dream was to open up an animal rescue center. So, as I began growing my breeding business, I started to think of how to incorporate rescuing and breeding together. That's when I decided to look for golden retrievers that were in bad situations and give them a home and a purpose.

I have rescued several goldens through the many months and years of searching, from less than desirable living conditions. Some physically and mentally abused, some mistreated in other ways and some just simply unwanted. Mind you, each golden I have rescued were registered through AKC or had unregistered AKC paperwork. I took them in and rehabilitated them, it wasn't easy and took months of working with them and rebuilding their trust in humanity. But they all came around, in their own time and at their own pace. I earned their trust and showed them a love they never had before. Each one became the best dog you could ever ask for. After they were health tested, I sought out only the healthiest ones for the business, ones that passed their health tests and were sure to be an asset to our program, and the others became our pets.

This is how we got started.

Since then, we have purchased quality golden retrievers through other breeders to add to our program, as well as still rescuing these beautiful dogs every chance we get.

Bringing life into this world is something we do not take lightly and with that being said, that is why we only breed dogs with positive results on their health tests and dogs with potential to produce quality golden retriever puppies.

Getting started was a lot of work, dedication, and chaos as I was starting from the ground up, learning as I went. We've had a lot of ups and downs,  some not so enjoyable moments and some amazing moments that I'll never forget.

I have learned so much and continue to learn and grow. Making my focus be solely to serve the Lord and follow in His path for my life. Through the trials and tribulations of dog breeding, here we are years later, thriving and moving ahead.
